Should I build a house out of brick, concrete blocks and mortar (Boulders)?

Deciding on building a house is a tremendous undertaking that requires a well thought out plan of action to build a home that will last for many years. Typically, most people building homes are not contractors and can struggle with the more technical terms of what it takes to build a durable, affordable beautiful home.

So, when the question comes up of what the best solution is to build a solid structure in the Bahamas, most contractors will suggest you build with concrete blocks, bricks and mortar, with bricks being typically referred to or otherwise known as boulders.

What makes concrete blocks and boulders such a highly recommended item by the professionals of the industry and architects everywhere?

Well, it comes down to one word, durability.

Concrete blocks, bricks and mortar have been used for building innumerable structures over many years because of their durability. They are known for their incredible bonding properties, are highly resistant against high pressure and frost, does not shrink and expand during fluctuating temperature, absorbs heat very well and can withstand natural disasters better than most materials.

Although building a home with wood is essentially a more affordable, rapid endeavour, the risks of building with wood are greater than when building with concrete blocks or bricks. The maintenance required for a house built with concrete blocks or bricks is relatively low, with its slow wear and tear, its natural defense against pests such as termites and its ability to stay warmer, dryer and frankly safer for longer than a home built with wood, you can rest easy knowing that the home you built will withstand and last you a lifetime.
